Video mapping tour
After a first edition in 2021, the Video Mapping Festival returns to the Wallers-Arenberg Mining Site for 2 evenings! Walk through a 7-point tour to rediscover its richness in a new light.
Gateway:
► Slime Factory
Follow Doc, the owner of a strange factory populated by small gelatinous creatures.
Direction: Alicia MONNOT
Animation: Joanna ALBERT, Alicia MONNOT
Original music: Erick BEJARANO
Transformer Facade:
► Yellow
In the 19th century, canaries were used in mines to anticipate firedamp bursts, the presence of explosive gas behind a wall being dug. The bird, so free outside, is faced with the harsh and repetitive daily life of miners. The yellow of its plumage is the only colour left underground. But for how long?
Direction: Laurent JAFFIER
Original music: Djaff
Mix: Jc CARON
Wellhead’s Facade #2:
► Echoes of the Depths
Echoes of the Depth is a visual exploration that delves into the Arenberg Fosse Mine and the brave workers who risked their lives to extract resources from the depths of the earth. This project employs the contrast of black and white photography and the use of textures to convey the starking contrast between light and dark in the subterranean environment.
Direction, concept and design: Amir MOKHBER
Sound creation: Géraldine KWIK
Ventilation gallery – immersive mapping:
► Astral Tunnel
Astral Tunnel transforms an old aeration gallery into a magical space that submerges you in an immersive and timeless atmosphere and transports you to the very heart of the launch of a space shuttle for an intergalactic journey to the confines of human imagination. The walls of the tunnel will become portals to cosmic worlds, projecting extraterrestrial landscapes, bewitching nebulae and infinite horizons that extend beyond our consciousness.
Visual creation and light: Aurélien WOJTKO
Original music: Géraldine KWIK
Wellhead’s Facade #1:
► Crazy factory!
In an abandoned building invaded by plants are hidden funny robots. Suddenly, a malfunction creates a mess and turns the factory into a colour explosion…
Direction: Louise BOURLOT, Clément LEMAIRE
Animation: Louise BOURLOT, Eloi FÉVRIER, Clément LEMAIRE
Original music: Virgile GUIOST
Well engine room’s Facade #1:
► Rising
The past of a building springs from its bricks through a touching story presented by a grandfather to his grandson. What was the purpose of this mysterious building? How was the Arenberg site saved? A fragment of history escaped in an intergenerational transmission to preserve this precious past, also to leave a beautiful place for the present, and the future with art as the heart of his story.
Direction: Rachel POUSSIN
Revenue building – immersive mapping:
► Down in the dumps
“What do these two men with a mustache want?
Why are we going underground? It’s not my place at all…
Something fishy is going on and I don’t like it. I can feel it in my feathers.
Well, this smells weird…”
Direction: Simon LEBON
Animation: Simon LEBON, Adrien TISON
Original music: Géraldine KWIK
